Expansion tank installation is required by many Chicagoland municipalities and is a smart addition even where it is not mandated. Sediment flushing is a maintenance service that extends the life of any tank water heater. We drain the tank, flush the sediment until the water runs clear, inspect the anode rod (the sacrificial metal rod that prevents tank corrosion), and replace it if more than 50 percent depleted.

The T&P valve is the most important safety device on a water heater — it releases pressure if the tank overheats — and a stuck or corroded valve can lead to catastrophic failure. We test the valve, replace it if necessary, and verify that the discharge pipe is properly routed.
