Water Heater Installation & Repair in Chicagoland

Few household emergencies feel as urgent as losing hot water. Whether your tank water heater is leaking on the utility room floor, your pilot light refuses to stay lit on a January morning, or your tankless unit is throwing error codes, CrestLine Home Pro provides fast, reliable water heater repair and installation across the North Shore, Northwest Suburbs, and greater Chicago area.

We service all types and brands of residential water heaters: standard tank models from Rheem, A.O. Smith, and Bradford White; tankless on-demand units from Rinnai, Navien, and Noritz; and hybrid heat-pump water heaters that combine electric and heat-pump technology for maximum efficiency. Our technicians carry diagnostic tools, common replacement parts — thermocouples, heating elements, gas valves, ignition modules, and anode rods — and can resolve many repairs in a single visit.

Tank water heater replacement is our most common installation. Most tank units last 8 to 12 years, and warning signs of failure include rusty water at the hot tap, rumbling or popping noises from sediment buildup, visible corrosion on the tank, and inconsistent water temperature. When replacement is necessary, we handle the full scope: draining and disconnecting the old unit, removing it from the home, setting the new heater, connecting gas or electric supply, running the flue or venting, installing an expansion tank if required by your municipality, and testing the temperature-and-pressure relief valve for safe operation.

Tankless water heater installation is growing in popularity across Chicagoland, and for good reason. Tankless units heat water on demand, eliminating standby energy losses and providing an essentially endless supply of hot water. They mount on the wall, freeing up floor space in tight utility rooms and basements. However, a tankless conversion from a traditional tank involves additional work — gas line upsizing for gas-fired units, electrical upgrades for electric models, and new venting configurations — and should only be done by a qualified professional. We evaluate your home's gas capacity, incoming water temperature (a critical variable in Chicago's cold winters), and fixture demand to recommend the right unit size and model.

Expansion tank installation is required by many Chicagoland municipalities and is a smart addition even where it is not mandated. When a closed plumbing system heats water, thermal expansion creates pressure spikes that stress pipes, fittings, and the water heater tank itself. An expansion tank absorbs this pressure and protects your entire plumbing system.

Sediment flushing is a maintenance service that extends the life of any tank water heater. Over time, minerals in the water settle at the bottom of the tank, insulate the heating element, reduce efficiency, and accelerate corrosion. We drain the tank, flush the sediment until the water runs clear, inspect the anode rod (the sacrificial metal rod that prevents tank corrosion), and replace it if more than 50 percent depleted.

Temperature-and-pressure (T&P) relief valve testing is included in every service call. The T&P valve is the most important safety device on a water heater — it releases pressure if the tank overheats — and a stuck or corroded valve can lead to catastrophic failure. We test the valve, replace it if necessary, and verify that the discharge pipe is properly routed.

Every installation is performed to local code, permitted where required, and backed by both the manufacturer's warranty and our own workmanship guarantee. We dispose of old units responsibly and leave the work area clean.

Our 15-year-old water heater started leaking on a Sunday. CrestLine came out Monday morning, removed the old unit, and installed a new 50-gallon Rheem with an expansion tank and new flex lines. Hot water by lunchtime. They even disposed of the old unit. Emergency service done right.

Upgraded from a traditional tank to a Rinnai tankless water heater. CrestLine handled the gas line modifications, venting, and electrical. Endless hot water now and our gas bill dropped noticeably. They walked us through the maintenance schedule too. Very knowledgeable.

Needed a water heater replacement in our condo building — tight space in a utility closet. They managed to swap out the old 40-gallon for a new Bradford White, updated the relief valve and drain pan. Took most of the day but everything passed inspection.
